FAQs

How does the ARTAS® Robotic Procedure work?
The ARTAS® Robotic Procedure is a minimally invasive FUE procedure used for selectively harvesting hair with robotic precision. It utilizes digital images and sophisticated algorithms to select healthy grafts for transplantation without damaging existing hair follicles. With Robotic Hair Restoration, there are no scalpels, stitches, staples, and no linear scarring.
Is the ARTAS® Robotic Hair Transplant painful?
Robotic Hair Restoration is done under local anesthetic. You might experience minor discomfort the night of the procedure, but this is easily manageable with acetaminophen. Most patients say “It’s easier than going to the dentist.”
How will my hair look after the ARTAS® Robotic Hair Transplant?
Like yourself, only younger. You can wear your hair at any length or style with confidence after the procedure. Regrowth will be gradual, with full results after about a year.
How long is the recovery period?
One to five days. Back to normal activity in as little as 2 days. This is much shorter than old-fashioned FUT procedures.
Are the results permanent?

Yes.

How is the ARTAS® Robotic Hair Transplant different than hair plugs?
“Plugs” involved harvesting large patches of hair that got compressed into many hairs coming out of one hole. With the ARTAS® Robotic Procedure, hairs are harvested and implanted in their natural groupings.
When will my new hair start to grow?
New hairs will start to grow in as little as three months. You should have a noticeable improvement after six months and full result possible at 1 year.
Do I need to cut my hair before the procedure?
Yes—Gradually cutting your hair short makes it easier for you to return to normal activities after your procedure. The ARTAS® Robotic System needs the hair to be short to visualize, track, and harvest each grouping of hairs. It also aids in the natural, gradual look of regrowth.
Will there be visible scarring in the donor area?

No.

Will people know I have had a hair transplant?
Your new hair will grow in slowly, which lessens the chance that people will notice. Your friends and family will notice that you look better, but they may not be able to put their finger on why.
How long does the ARTAS® Robotic Hair Transplant procedure take?
The procedure will last most of the day depending on your hair restoration goals. You will be seated for the duration of the transplant, with the doctor and staff nearby to help make sure you’re comfortable and relaxed.
